Known for its high-quality fabrics since the days of boat-led world exploration, Yazd is a charming stop for any traveler moving through Iran.
Travelers find it hard not to fall in love with Yazd. This historic town may not have any huge monuments, but in this fact lies its charm: despite its age, it has remained well in-tact. Visitors are encouraged to explore its winding maze of narrow streets, examining the plethora of mud-brick houses and shops that, while all homogeneous in color, all have their own style and quirks. Visitors must be sure not to miss the badgirs, or windtowers, that are found in the Old Town: these ancient structures were used to better ventilate residences long before air conditioning was available to keep out the heat.
Yazd's desert-side location makes it the perfect location to launch a day-hike through the sands or arrange a long journey by camel back. With temperatures reaching into the 100's, however, all hikers and riders must pack accordingly.
