Enemy Efforts to Sow Discord among Muslims Failed: Salehi

TEHRAN, Jan 9 (ICANA) – Foreign Ministry Caretaker Ali-Akbar Salehi here on Saturday evening stressed that the enemies’ efforts to sow discord between Shiite and Sunni Muslims have been failed.

In a meeting with visiting Syrian Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Abrash, he expressed satisfaction with the existing amicable ties between the two nations.

He added that exchange of visits between the two sides would lead to further expansion of all-out relations between the two friendly countries.

Syria enjoys a special position in the region, Salehi said, stressing that all regional and Muslim countries attach importance to ties with Damascus.

He further appreciated Syria’s support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.

For his part, the Syrian official, referred to Tehran-Damascus relations as strategic, saying President Bashar al-Assad is interested in further expansion of all-out ties with Tehran.

Regretting that certain countries are trying to create tension between the two Iranian and Syrian nations, he stressed that the two countries enjoy profound and friendly relations in all areas
